I really want to put this quote near the end of my paper.
Michael Moore: So this was GM chairman Roger Smith. And he appeared to have a brilliant plan: First, close 11 factories in the U.S, then open 11 in Mexico where you pay the workers 70 cents an hour. Then, use the money you've saved by building cars in Mexico to take over other companies, preferably high-tech firms and weapons manufacturers. Next, tell the union you're broke and they happily agree to give back a couple billion dollars in wage cuts. You then take that money from the workers, and eliminate their jobs by building more foreign factories. Roger Smith was a true genius.
It isn't that it encompasses my whole paper, its just part of the affect GM had on Flint.

Intro to Me
Hello,
My name is Josh Bertolet. I'm a sophomore majoring in Political Science and History here at Michigan State University. I enjoy making pasta, puppies, and long walks on the beach. I went to Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, MI. In high school my favorite subject was history, for some reason it always just seemed to click. I took every history course my high school offered along with HST 202 last year. I'm hoping one day to do something in the field of history, maybe a museum curator or a history teacher.
As for right now, for this extensive paper we have to write, I'm thinking about looking at Flint, MI and the auto industry. My parents owned a car wash and we were heavily effected by the decline of the Michigan economy, so much that had to sell our business and practically start over. The Flint situation in the late 1980's seems like it could be a great topic.
